RELEASE THOSE MUSCLES

RELEASE THOSE MUSCLES
Releasing chronic muscle tension.

Releasing chronic muscle tension from body

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia. Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It is designed to reach the deep sections of thick muscles, specifically the individual muscle fibers. Using deep muscle compression and friction along the grain of the muscle, the purpose of deep tissue massage is to unstuck the fibers of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held tension points.

Specific hand positions and strokes are used to respond to various tissues while breath and movement techniques are employed to release muscular congestion. It is effective in relieving osteoarthritis pain than physical therapy, exercise, prescription medications, chiropractic, acupuncture, diet, glucosamine, and over-the- counter drugs. It help to loosen muscle tissue, release toxins from muscle and get blood and oxygen circulating problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain. Because it works very deeply, emotional issue can also be addressed, when these have been stored in the body.

WHAT IS DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE?

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

HOW DOES DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE WORK?

When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful. Rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can back circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation.Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles.

WILL DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE HURT?

At certain points during the massage, most people find some discomfort and pain.It is important to tell the massage therapist when things hurt and if any soreness or pain you experience is outside your comfort range. There is usually some stiffness or pain after a deep tissue massage, but it should subside within a day or so. The massage therapist may recommend applying ice to the area after the massage.

BENEFITS OF DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as:
 Chronic pain
 Limited mobility
 Recovery from injuries(e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury)
 Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
 Postural problems osteoarthritis pain
 Fibromyalgia
 Muscle tension or spasm

TECHNIQUES:

Massage therapists may use fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows and forearms during the deep tissue massage. Client has to breathe deeply as the massage therapist works on certain tense areas. It is important to drink plenty of water to flush metabolic waste from the tissue after the massage.

PRECAUTIONS:

Massage is not recommended for certain people:
 Infectious skin disease, rash, or open wounds.
 Immediately after surgery
 Immediately after chemotherapy by your doctor.
 People with osteoporosis should consult their doctor before getting a massage.
 Prone to blood clots. There is a risk of blood clots being dislodged. If you have heart disease, check with your doctor before having a massage.
 Pregnant women should check with their doctor first if they are considering getting a massage.Massage in pregnant women should be done by massage therapist who is certified in pregnancy massage.
 Massage should not be done directly over bruises, inflamed skin, unhealed wounds, tumors, abdominal hernia, or areas of recent fractures.

SIDE EFFECTS:

SORENESS: This is closely related to the soreness client may feel the day or so after a strenuous workout. It is normal and it fades.
HEADACHE: Few people report a headache after a deep tissue massage. This may be due to the fact that this form of massage therapy stimulates the nervous system. Certain people react differently to this stimulation.
NAUSEA: Very few people feel mild nausea. Muscles build up toxins, which cause the stiffness and pain. Deep tissue massage releases these toxins back into the blood stream to be eliminated. As the digestive system is loaded with these toxins, some may be more sensitive and feel slightly nauseous. The best way to combat this is through drinking lots of water. Not only will it help flush out the toxins, but the flushing will prevent them from setting in your muscles again.

Ayurvedic Treatment of Swine Flu

Ayurvedic Treatment of Swine Flu
Swine Flu Facts

Swine Flu causes symptoms and prevwntion

Swine flu (swine influenza) is a respiratory disease caused by viruses (influenza viruses) that infect the respiratory tract of pigs, resulting in nasal secretions, a barking cough, decreased appetite, and listless behavior. Swine flu produces most of the same symptoms in pigs as human flu produces in people. Swine flu can last about one to two weeks in pigs that survive. Swine influenza virus was first isolated from pigs in 1930 in the U.S. and has been recognized by pork producers and veterinarians to cause infections in pigs worldwide. In a number of instances, people have developed the swine flu infection when they are closely associated with pigs (for example, farmers, pork processors), and likewise, pig populations have occasionally been infected with the human flu infection. In most instances, the cross-species infections (swine virus to man; human flu virus to pigs) have remained in local areas and have not caused national or worldwide infections in either pigs or humans. Unfortunately, this cross-species situation with influenza viruses has had the potential to change. Investigators decided the 2009 so-called "swine flu" strain, first seen in Mexico, should be termed novel H1N1 flu since it was mainly found infecting people and exhibits two main surface antigens, H1 (hemagglutinin type 1) and N1 (neuraminidase type1). The eight RNA strands from novel H1N1 flu have one strand derived from human flu strains, two from avian (bird) strains, and five from swine strains.

Swine flu is transmitted from person to person by inhalation or ingestion of droplets containing virus from people sneezing or coughing; it is not transmitted by eating cooked pork products. The newest swine flu virus that has caused swine flu is influenza A H3N2v (commonly termed H3N2v) that began as an outbreak in 2011. The "v" in the name means the virus is a variant that normally infects only pigs but has begun to infect humans. There have been small outbreaks of H1N1 since the pandemic; a recent one is in India where at least three people have died.

Swine Flu symptoms

Swine flu, both H1N1 and H3N2v, cause a respiratory infection. The CDC recommends that swine influenza be considered in people who have fever and respiratory symptoms, especially cough or a sore throat. Ill people may also have fatigue, chills, headache, or body aches. Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea has also occurred in people with swine flu. Very young children may not complain of fever or have a cough but rather have listlessness or shortness of breath as their main symptom.

Children and young adults (ages 0-24 years) had the highest rate of infection with the 2009 H1N1 flu. Older adults (>65 years) were less likely to have infections, leading some to speculate that older individuals might have "partial immunity." Partial immunity occurs when people make antibodies against one virus that have some effect on another virus. Thus, older people who were exposed to a similar virus may have been partly protected against swine flu. The key words here are may and partly. There is no guarantee that an older person is protected, and if they do get infected, they are at risk for complications requiring hospitalization. One recent study showed that 33% of people over age 59 have antibodies that might help protect against novel H1N1. However, if older people do get infected, the disease may be more severe, as is true of most influenza infections.

Although the infection is usually mild, some people with swine flu have experienced serious respiratory illness, including pneumonia or respiratory failure leading to death. Pregnant women are at high risk for severe disease. Of concern, most deaths early in the pandemic occurred in adults under age 65, including people under age 25. This was the opposite of what happens in a normal influenza season when most deaths occur in the elderly.

People with chronic medical conditions are always at higher risk for complications from influenza and this is also true of swine flu. These chronic medical conditions include asthma, chronic lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, suppressed immune systems (including from chemotherapy), and kidney failure.

People with swine influenza are assumed to be contagious from one day before getting sick until at least 24 hours after symptoms resolve. Children and people with weak immune systems may be infectious for longer periods (for example, 10 days).

Ayurvedic Treatment of Swine Flu

Here are some easy steps you can take to tackle a flu virus of any kind, including swine flu. It is not necessary to follow all the steps at once. You can pick and choose a combination of remedies that suit you best. However, if you are already suffering from flu, these measures can help only up to an extent.

1. Have five duly washed leaves of Tulsi (known as Basil in English; medicinal name Ocimum sanctum) everyday in the morning. Tulsi has a large number of therapeutic properties. It keeps throat and lungs clear and helps in infections by way of strengthening your immunity.
2. Giloi (medicinal name Tinospora cordifolia) is a commonly available plant in many areas. Take a one-foot long branch of giloi, add five to six leaves of Tulsi and boil in water for 15-20 minutes or long enough to allow the water to extract its properties. Add black pepper and sendha (salt used during religious fasts), rock or black salt, or Misri (crystalised sugar like lumps to make it sweet) according to taste. Let it cool a bit and drink this kadha (concoction) while still warm. It will work wonders for your immunity. If giloi plant is not available, get processed giloi powder from Hamdard or others, and concoct a similar drink once a day.
3. A small piece of camphor (kapoor) approximately the size of a tablet should be taken once or twice a month. It can be swallowed with water by adults while children can take it along with mashed potatoes or banana because they will find it difficult to have it without any aides. Please remember camphor is not to be taken everyday, but only once each season, or once a month.
4. Those who can take garlic, must have two pods of raw garlic first thing in the morning. To be swallowed daily with lukewarm water. Garlic too strengthens immunity like the earlier measures mentioned.
5. Those not allergic to milk, must take a glass of hot or lukewarm milk every night with a small measure of haldi (turmeric).
6. Aloe vera (gwarpatha) too is a commonly available plant. Its thick and long, cactus-like leaves have an odourless gel. A teaspoon gel taken with water daily can work wonders for not only your skin and joint pains, but also boost immunity.
7. Take homeopathic medicines — Pyrogenium 200 and Inflenzium 200 in particular — five tablets three times a day, or two-three drops three times a day. While these are not specifically targeted at H1N1 either, these work well as preventive against common flu virus.
8. Do Pranayam daily (preferably under guidance if you are already not initiated into it) and go for morning jog/walk regularly to keep your throat and lungs in good condition and body in fine fettle. Even in small measures, it will work wonders for your body's resistance against all such diseases which attack the nose, throat and lungs, besides keeping you fit.
9. Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich Amla (Indian gooseberry) juice. Since fresh Amla is not yet available in the market (not for another three to four months), it is not a bad idea to buy packaged Amla juice which is commonly available nowadays.
10. Last but not the least, wash your hands frequently every day with soap and warm water for 15-20 seconds; especially before meals, or each time after touching a surface that you suspect could be contaminated with flu virus such as a door handle or a knob/handle, especially if you have returned from a public place or used public transport. Alcohol-based hand cleaners should be kept handy at all times and used until you can get soap and warm water.

Malaria symptoms ,causes and prevention

Malaria symptoms ,causes and prevention
Malaria a dangerous disease

Prevention and cures of Malaria

Malaria is a life-threatening blood disease caused by parasites and is transmitted to humans by the Anopheles mosquito. Once bitten, parasites multiply in the host's liver before infecting and destroying red blood cells.

Malaria is a devastating parasitic disease transmitted through the bite of infected Anopheles mosquitoes. Endemic to tropical and subtropical areas of Asia, North and South America, the Middle East, North Africa, and the South Pacific, Plasmodium vivax is the most common of four human malaria species.

Causes of Malaria

Malaria is caused by the bites from the female Anopheles mosquito, which then infects the body with the parasite Plasmodium. This is the only mosquito that can cause malaria.
The successful development of the parasite within the mosquito depends on several factors, the most important being humidity and ambient temperatures.
When an infected mosquito bites a human host, the parasite enters the bloodstream and lays dormant within the liver. For the next 5-16 days, the host will show no symptoms but the malaria parasite will begin multiplying asexually.
The new malaria parasites are then released back into the bloodstream when they infect red blood cells and again begin to multiply. Some malaria parasites, however, remain in the liver and are not released until later, resulting in recurrence.
An unaffected mosquito becomes infected once it feeds on an infected individual, thus beginning the cycle again.
The video below from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute visualizes how a single bite from an infected mosquito can quickly turn into the life-threatening disease.

Symptoms of Malaria

Symptoms of P. vivax malaria are similar to those of other types of malaria and include cyclical fever and chills, headache, weakness, vomiting, and diarrhea. The most common complication is enlargement of the spleen. P.vivax malaria is rarely fatal, but relapses often occur months to years after treatment because some of the parasites can become dormant in the liver. Special medication can be taken to kill the dormant parasites.
Symptoms of malaria
According to the CDC, malaria symptoms can be classified in two categories, uncomplicated and severe malaria.
Uncomplicated malaria is diagnosed when symptoms are present, but there are no clinical or laboratory signs to indicate the severity or vital organ dysfunction. Individuals suffering from this form, can eventually develop severe malaria if the disease is left untreated, or if they suffer from poor to no immunity against the disease.
Severe malaria is defined by clinical or laboratory evidence of vital organ dysfunction. This form has the capacity to be fatal if left untreated. A general overview of the symptoms are:
Fever and chills
Impaired consciousness
Prostration
Multiple convulsions
Deep breathing and respiratory distress
Abnormal bleeding, such as anemia
Clinical jaundice and evidence of vital organ dysfunction.

Life cycle of Malaria

Life cycle:4 Like P. falciparum, P. vivax is introduced into the bloodstream by the Anopheles mosquito. The parasites enter the liver cells, where most divide to form schizonts consisting of numerous merozoites. Leaving the liver, merozoites invade red blood cells and reproduce. After 48 hours or so, enough merozoites are produced to burst the red blood cells, resulting in fever and chills characteristic of malaria. Some merozoites then develop into male or female forms, which if taken up by a mosquito, can start the cycle over again.

Treatment of malaria

Treatment: P. vivax malaria has classically been treated with chloroquine and primaquine. Primaquine acts against the liver stage, decreasing the risk of relapse. The parasite is becoming resistant to chloroquine and primaquine, so alternate drugs are being used and explored.

MIRACULOUS HEALING Power

Miraculous Healing power of our body

Every human being is composed of two parts, one is the physical body while other is an invisible energy field that surrounds our body an is known as ‘prana’ or aura. it is the life force and the source of all lives and the universe as a whole. It is this energy, which is responsible for keeping the body alive and healthy. prana is recognized in many cultures and known by different names such as chi in chinless, ki in Japanese, mana in Polynesian, pneuma in Greek and ruah in Hebrew.

Both the components of the body, physical and the energy are closely related and thus referred to as enteric twins. if any disease affects the physical body, it has to penetrate the energy body firs. a pranic healer, unlike a doctor, heals through “prana” and treats all kinds of disease without touching the person undergoing the healing process. it cures the person of the physical ailment.

Different types of therapy

Panchakarma treatment

Procedure of shirodhara ayurvedic treatment:

In this thousands years old curative method the person is advised to lay down on the massage table in supine position (face upwards). A warm liquid (special curative herbal oil) is poured in a continuous thin stream over the forehead onto the scalp from a special bowl suspended above the person's head.

The principal working behind pranic healing is that everyone has the inborn ability to heal themselves. Pranic healing enhances the healing process by utilizing the “prana” of that person.

WHERE DOES THE PRANA COME FROM?

There are three principal sources – the sun, the air and the earth. We need a constant supply of fresh prana to maintain good health. Pranic healing teaches how to consciously absorb and assimilate more prana and use it to improve your life.

HOW DOES PRANIC HEALING WORK?

The methods are simple and easy to understand, thus anyone can learn and apply pranic healing in no time at all. It requires no drugs, gadgets, not even physical contact with the subject and does not have any side effects.

It can be used for self healing and healing other people even if the person is thousand miles away, which is known as ‘distant healing’. One of the greatest benefits of pranic healing is that it is preventive. The pranic healer is able to detect the disease before it manifests in the physical body and eradicate it. However, it must be emphasized that yoga vidya pranic healing is not meant to replace allopathic system of medicine, but in fact, to complement and supplement it. It can be effectively combined with any other form of treatment.

DO SUPPLEMENTS HELP?

Many weight loss supplements marketed to increase metabolism contain stimulants like caffeine, guarana, yerba mate or bitter orange (see box above). Stimulants speed up metabolism by increasing heart rate. Unfortunately, they can also produce side effects like insomnia, anxiety, heart palpitations and elevated blood pressure.

THE METABOLISM SECRET

THE METABOLISM SECRET
THE METABOLISM SECRET food

THE METABOLISM SECRET diet

Dieters often lament that a slow metabolism keeps them from losing weight. Marketers of weight-loss products capitalize on this belief by offering ways to boost metabolism and “melt away” unwanted pounds. Is a faster metabolism really the key to weight loss? And can you really speed up your metabolism?

We examine the factors that affect metabolism and weight loss and weight in on ingredients in popular products.

Metabolism made

Easy :
metabolism refers to the way the body uses energy(measured in calories). The body uses calories in three ways:
1. To sustain vital body functions like breathing, heart rate, waste removal, cell growth and cell repair, even when at rest (amazingly, all this accounts for up to 75% of the calories you burn daily).
2. For physical activity and
3. For digestion and absorption of food, which uses about 10% of a day’s calories?

Different types of therapy

Panchakarma treatment

The speed at which the body burns calories when at rest is called your resting metabolic rate (RMR). Everyone’s RMR differs and may in part be genetically determined. Some lucky people really do have a higher metabolic rate than others and therefore burn more calories even doing nothing.

The only way to know your RMR is to have a health and fitness professional measure it, such as with a hand-held device called body gem, for example. It measures oxygen consumption, which your body burns calories. Cutting calories below your RMR is not smart, because your body is fighting to conserve the energy it has stored in body fat.

Here’s what you need to know about metabolism and its effect on weight loss:

A IS FOR ACTIVITY:
People who exercise regularly burn more calories and have more muscle mass than those who are less active. Aerobic exercise, like brisk walking and swimming, burns calories, while strength training slows the inevitable muscle loss associated with aging, which helps boost metabolism.

It’s often reported that aerobic and resistance exercise increase metabolism not only while you are exercising, but for several hours afterwards as well. This increase in metabolism is not sustained long-term, however. High-intensity resistance training may have the greatest effect on metabolic rate post exercise, but there are no studies linking the aftereffects of activity with significant weight loss.

GET YOUR ZZZs. How long you sleep may affect hormones that regulate appetite and body weight. The large, ongoing Wisconsin sleep cohort study found that people who sleep less, weight more.

Sleeping only four to five hours a night – instead of the recommended seven to eight alters level of the appetite regulating hormones leptin and ghrelin, leading to increased appetite. These hormonal changes combined with having more awake time to eat and feeling too tired to exercise all contribute to weight gain.

CARBS S. PROTEIN. The Atkins diet, south beach diet and others like them maintain that low-carbohydrate diets offer a metabolic advantage over low-fat diets by burning more calories for energy.

The weight loss seen with these diets is more the result of high protein than low carb, according to dale schoeller, PhD., of the university of Wisconsin at Madison. In fact, a recent review of studies that he authored found some evidence of a very slight metabolic advantage for high protein diets. Protein increase satiety, helping dieters stick to low calories diets. And protein may slightly blunt the fall in resting metabolism that occurs with weight loss. Still, what matters most is total calories.

“ The vast majority of weight loss is explained by how much people cut calories and how much they exercise, “ says schoeller,” not by changing the percentage of carbohydrates protein or fat in their diets.”

DO SUPPLEMENTS HELP?

Many weight loss supplements marketed to increase metabolism contain stimulants like caffeine, guarana, yerba mate or bitter orange (see box above). The wrinkle battle

ayurvedic wrinkle health tips
Ways to fight it out with wrinkles

The wrinkle treatment

Many things improve with time wine; cheese the value of real estate and taste of pickles, to name of few. Unfortunately skin isn’t one of them. As skin ages, it naturally loses some of its elasticity and resiliency which causes the formation of wrinkle. In the early twenties and thirties, the wrinkles are more dynamic, which are only caused by temporary action and hence also referred to us expression lines.

The wrinkles that make their appearance first are crow’s feet around the eyes and the frown lines on forehead. Lines on the neck appear much leter.ageing does not spare other parts of the body like hands feet, elboe, knees which also get their share of wrinkles with age. The key point in fighting these wrinkles is prevention and following guidelines theat will help keep them at bay. However, some people are genetically prone to early wrinkling ad for them there are more advanced option like medications lasers or surgery.

According to Ayurveda, every human being is a unique phenomenon of cosmic consciousness, manifested through the five basic elements— Ether,Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Vata—a combination of ether and air, pitta—a combination of fire and water, and kapha—a combination of water and earth, are called the tridosha. These are the three humors or the three organizations of the body, which are also derived from consciousness. Each individual constitution or psycho-somatic temperament is determined by the relative proportions of these three doshas at the time of fertilization. When the embryo is formed, the constitution is determined. There are seven basic constitutions with one or more doshas predominant according to Ayurveda. They are: vata, pitta or kapha predominant, vata-pitta, pitta-kapha or kapha-vata predominant and vata-pitta-kapha in equal balance, a rare occurrence.

Lifestyles re-look

Exercise, good sleep and a well balanced diet helps a lot. Exercise not only increases blood supply to skin, it also causes the release of certain chemicals and hormones in the body that helps fight ageing. 6-8 hours sleep is a must for skin rejuvenation. Infect, the sleep posture is also important.

For example, never sleep on your sides of flat on stomach as this will produce shearing forces on the facial skin which will aggravate wrinkles. The best posture to sleep is flat on your back. Use a thin soft pillow for maximum comfort. A nutritious well balanced diet depending on your age and daily requirement is the best option to fight wrinkles. Certain color foods also have anti-ageing benefits. For example green and purple fruits have more antioxidants and hence are good for skin.

RECTIFY THE CAUSE….IF ANY

There are certain aggravating factors for skin ageing which should be detected and rectified, for example the wrinkles around eyes called crow’s feet often result from squinting when suddenly exposed to very bright light, So one way to avoid them, or lessen their severity is to wear dark color sunglasses before you step out into bright light.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT INTAKE

Various multivitamins antioxidants and other nutritional supplements depending on your age and skin requirements should be taken on daily basis. Coenzyme Q10, beta-carotene,, vitamin A,C, an E and sea extracts are good anti-ageing supplements. One should try and incorporate as much of these supplements in the diet.

QUIT SMOKING

Cigarette smoke contains more than 4,000 toxins, many of which are absorbed directly into the bloodstream and are taken by the blood right into the structure of your skin. Cigarette smoking causes the blood vessels at the top layers of the skin to contract thereby reducing the oxygen level in these layers. This further causes thickening of blood which reduces the collagen level in the skin leading to premature wrinkles and skin pigmentation, typically called the ‘smoker’s face’.

STAY AWAY FROM DIRECT SUN RAYS

Photo-ageing occurs over a period of years improve repeated exposure to sun; the skin loses the ability to repair itself. Repeated ultraviolet exposure brakes down collagen and impairs the synthesis of new collagen. The skin ceases to spring back and becomes loose and wrinkled much earlier. Sun screen application is the single most important measure to prevent photo-ageing and use of sunscreen with above 25 SPF is a must.

Ayurveda’s origin is critical to the development of its medical assumption. India has a rich scientific history, Ayurveda in particular dates back 3500 to 5000 years ago. It is the most ancient form of medicine in India and traces back to Lord Brahma (the Hindu God of Creation), according to Hindu mythology. Charaka Samhita, written in the first century AD, is the oldest text that exists in Ayurveda.

Additionally, there are two other main texts that are studied today Susruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridayam. The latter is a compilation of the Charaka and Susruta Samhita, which have different approaches to Ayurvedic treatment.

Charaka Samhita is known as the school of physicians. It compares more of the physiological, anatomical, and pathogenic interpretations and treatment for disease. Similar to a General Practitioner in allopathic medicine,Charaka Samhita is the text associated with noninvasive treatment.

Alternatively, Susruta Samhita is known as the school of surgeons. This text contains details of surgical techniques for amputations, fractures, wounds, etc. It also discusses the importance of specific points on the body known as marmas. When injured, these points can be severely damaging to the body, even causing immediate death. These texts were very detailed in their methods of treatment and are thus still applicable today. The importance of a physician understands of the patient’s mind, body, and soul when interpreting the cause of a disease is emphasized in Charaka Samhita.

It claims that this knowledge is more important than being able to identify the disease using a specific nomenclature, as done in modern medicine.
